I have concerns regarding the scale of the Testors 1:48 Me-163. I have built this model in 1:48 scale, and in 1:72 scale from other makers. I checked on-line and found that the full scale aircraft has a wing span listed from 30ft.6inches. all the way up to 31ft. 7inches. I know war time production could produce these differences, or perhaps the person measuring the wing span was not accurate. BUT My calculations show that in 1:48 scale the wingspan should be 7 1/2 inches. The Testors kit is advertised as having a span of almost 8 inches, But When I measure it I only come up with 5" in span...This is what you would expect from a 1:72 scale Me-163..... So what is up with that? Because this is a 32 year old kit I was wondering if it was Box Scale, and the measurement given in the ads was the Box dimensions..... Anybody else notice this?

My Bad. The Testors kit is a true 1:48 scale, right down to the 7 1/2" span. I was looking at an old Lindberg kit and got mixed up. The Lindberg was 1:72

Hi William

I'm glad you got to the bottom of it - I was scratching my head wondering how a kit could be that far off the quoted dimensions without anyone having noticed long ago!

All the best

Gee, I was getting already for a falme war over the merits of the One True Scale vs. everything else.
