Scale Model World 2007
The Scale Model World show is held in Telford, England and has become one of the largest model shows on the planet. Taking over three aircraft hanger size halls filled with traders, IPMS branches, SiGs (Special interest Groups) and the competition area, the SMW show attracts modellers from all over the globe.
A couple of highlights for me were built models and sprues of Airfix's 1/48th scale Canberra and 1/72nd scale Nimrod that were on display on the Airfix stand. Both these kits should be released around January.
Also you cannot help but fall in love with MDC's 1/32nd Arado, which they had an unpainted kit on display. As this kit is resin and white metal the weight of it unbelievable, but the detail is outstanding.
Heritage models had a 1/32nd scale vac-form Vulcan and a English Electric Lightning on display, yes a 1/32nd Avro Vulcan, which as the vendor pointed out, being so big it has its uses, as a shelf for smaller models lol.
The competition was hard fought as usual, with several different classes in the aircraft section.
Here are photos of the the winners and some of the entrants (in no particular order) of the aircraft classes.
