Junkers D.1

I used Roden's Junkers D.I kit to convert into the prototype version, which was natural aluminium overall.

Building was a bit difficult due to the corrugated surface. A lot of sanding and dry fitting were required. I used several scratch-made parts. I sprayed the whole model with GSI Mr. Aluminum over a light coat of acrilyc primer.

The real plane wore unusal markings, so i didn't used the kit decals. All markings were airbrushed with paint masks custom-made by SBS Model.

I like this and such a good variation of the kit. Fine work. I like the SBS markings.

A really beautiful build. I always like this Junkers design and would like to build one in 1/72 scale. Interesting isn't it how so many of the WW1 manufactures didn't survive to WW2. Junkers being a notable exception. Again, great job. Russell

Hi again I really like that dull aluminium finish too. With Steffen saying that Gunze have messed about with the specs of some of their paints, I'd love to know if what Péter used is still available... All the best Rowan
