Some notes about the model
These are two Tamiya 1:48 scale A6M5 Zero models. I chose to do the two variants proposed in the kit by the japanese manufacturer (A6M5 and A6M5a). I used the kit's decals for the markings and Tamiya acrylic paints. I've mixed my own colors because I wanted to depict the color differences between a Mitsubishi and a Nakajima built aircraft.

Except from the aerial wires, everything is from the box, though one of the models has benefited from the Tamiya detail set destined to the kit. The four pilot figures which are included in the Zero box are really fantastic. The Kurogane is also from Tamiya.

To make the propeller turn during the photo session I have used… a hair dryer.

Very good! I have one of these in the works. Great kit, but leaves few margins for errors. I experienced some fitting problems with the wing parts meant to receive the gun barrels, maybe my fault...

Sure not .. already mentioned by Rowan in his build log and Jean-Luc too and I also had this hickup so probably one of the very rare occasions where Big T has a slight design flaw... all the best Steffen

I agree with Mark , Jean-Luc a feature on how you do your finishing would be excellent indeed . Fantastic builds ! I really like the paint chipping , very realistic and the weathering just tops it up even more

Hi all, Thank you for your kind words... Giacomo, the gun inserts are indeed difficult to adjust and it's a problem of the kit, not yours... As for the painting techniques, I use the same methods and same paints since several years. Maybe that's why it works so well now, I don't have bad surprises anymore. Jean-Luc

Nice to hear that! How did you sort it out? Filling, like Rowan? If so, what kind of filler did you use?

Hi Giacomo, I didn't used filler. I thinned the U shaped pieces from the inside and gently spread them a little to fit. Jean-Luc
