F-15 Strike Eagle.

"The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) F-15 Eagle was initially designed as an air superiority fighter to replace the venerable F-4 Phantom II back in the 1970's. The Eagle excelled in its role as a fighter and soon after, the designers at MDD realised that it had a great potential as a strike fighter as well. They outfitted a 2-seat Eagle with conformal fuel tanks and bomb racks and the Strike Eagle was born.

Here is the excellent Revell F-15E Strike Eagle built with parts from Academy's latest F-15E to represent a jet which participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom. I used the LAU-128 launchers, several weapons and decals from the Academy kit.

The build was rather straight-forward all thanks to the great fitting Revell kit. I painted it with Gunze Mr Hobby acrylic paints and Alclad for the exhaust sections.

Weathering was done with Tamiya enamels for the panel-lining and oil stain streaking. The exhaust nozzles were weathered with pastel chalks.

Hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed the build!".

nice job, what paint was used? I believe this aircraft was carrier based? I used to be in the 6th fleet back in the late 70s

Thanks for the compliments, guys. @Dave: This aircraft never served with the US Navy. I think you may have confused it with the F-14 Tomcat. Cheers! Mark

Beautiful build, Mark. Great to hear the kit fitted together nicely. I have one in my stash and I am really looking forward to building it. Your build is great inspiration and a fantastic result to strive for. Thanks for sharing
