Jurgen Schot, a.k.a. Jurrie on Kitmaker, is well known at Kitmaker Benelux where his elegant South East Asia Command Spitfire Mk VIII graces the site content. He has generously shared his excellent creation across sites of the Kitmaker Network.
Jurrie writes that this is the Hasegawa 1/48 Spitfire Mk VIII "S.E.A.C.". He enhanced it with seat belts from Eduard. The model is finished with Gunze RAF paints, applied over a hard-edge mask of Tamiya tape.
RAF's South East Asia Command fought over the CBI theatre from mid-1942 through VJ Day. Like United States' early war national insignia the standard RAF roundel had a red center, and like the Americans, the RAF deleted it to avoid confusion with Imperial Japan's red hinomaru. The resulting insignia is quite appealing upon the RAF brown and green camouflage. The unit markings also enhance the overall appeal of this model.
We thank Jurrie for sending his model from Kitmaker Benelux!
