IPMS Vancouver 2011 Fall Show

  • move
These pictures were taken at IPMS Vancouver's 41st Annual Fall show, Oct 8th, 2011. The early pictures show the tables awaiting their entries, the people arriving and the tables filling up. When registration closed at 12:00, there were approximately 425 models entered.

There was a good variety of models, everything from a 1/160 Wright Flyer to a 1/24 Mosquito to 1/8 classic race cars. The Juniors' categories were disappointingly lightly filled this year. Highlights of the show included the aforementioned Flyer and Mossie, a paper 1/32 T-6 Texan in USAF markings (Yes, paper!), a 1.33 meter-long HMS Inflexible, a huge vinyl Godzilla being built by Monster Attack Team, and a very well filled Real Space category.

Doors opened at 9:00 and we all queued up to pay our registration fees, then came in and filled the tables. I worked registration until the rush died down, and then I was able to see what the hordes had left un-picked-over in the Vendors' room (the deal of the day was a 1/48 FM Halifax that went to its lucky buyer for C$30.-) and wander about taking pictures of the entries and the hardworking judges. I brought my DC-7 and 737 that I built here on Aeroscale for display on the otherwise almost empty "display only" table, keeping company with a stock car.

The names of the winners and more photos should be posted on the IPMS Vancouver website shortly.
