On the last weekend in May it's time for The SVM Festival Of Modelling. SVM stands for "Svet V Malem" (World In Miniatures) and this year it took place on saturday the 26th and sunday the 27th of May. The main event was competition in plastic modelling with participants from Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia and Czech Republic. There were 168 models of all genres in competition and many more on display. The novelty of this year's festival was The Balkanika Cup. It's organized by modelling clubs of former Yugoslavia and it's about models related to the region. As I noted, this year's SVM show is called "The Festival Of Modelling" and this means that there were also presentations of die-cast model collections, model railways, Warhammer table games and many more. There were also modelling workshops, presentations of modelling techniques by Slovenian master modellers and modelling flea market. One speciality was also a group built. Four Slovenian modellers joined their forces and in five hours time they completed a remarkable Tamiya's 1/24th scale Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. At the end of the show there was a surprise: a huge cake in the shape of an U.S. aircraft carrier deck with number 06 on its front deck celebrating the 6th implementation of The SVM show.
At the end I would like to commend the organizers for the great modelling event and see you next year. Enjoy...
