introduction
Any Air Force must pay particular attention to its adversaries, current or potential. During much of its history, the US Air Force prepared to do battle with the Soviet Union, and on several occasions in many different parts of the globe, USAF aircraft entered combat with Soviet aircraft, often operated by Soviet client States.

The USAF Intelligence service very quietly collected a number of MiGs from various sources during the Cold War, and secretly evaluated them to discover their strengths and weaknesses. With the ending of the Cold War, these aircraft were finally allowed to be put on public display.
The aircraft of Mikoyan and Gurevich
From the beginning of the Cold War until the 1990s, the name MiG was synonymous with "Soviet Fighter". Our visit takes us to 3 iconic MiG aircraft and some of the equipment and accessories they used.

The aircraft we view today are the MiG 19 and MiG 29 in the Cold War Gallery and the MiG 21 in the Southeast Asia War Gallery.

Also on display are some of the different kinds of flight helmets and gun sights used by MiG pilots.
