USAF Museum, part 5

introduction

One of two hangars not physically connected to the rest of the museum, the Research and Development Gallery is located within the bounds of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and may only be visited with the cooperation of the USAF. Special buses take visitors to and from the hangar.

The aircraft on exhibit

In this part of the museum we are treated to pioneering aircraft which achieved firsts in exploring the limits of what aircraft could achieve. Whether the goal was speed, vertical takeoff, fly-by-wire, stealth, unmanned flight, chances are the aircraft which did it will be found here.

Fred was kind enough to label his pictures, so there is no need to list the aircraft.
