Matchbox Flying Nostalgia Campiagn

The Matchbox Flying Nostalgia campaign recently concluded and was themed around building an aircraft kit manufactured by Matchbox. Every so often it is great to look back in time to where we started, and with a lot of us it was the old Matchbox kits with those unforgettable multi-coloured plastic sprues. It was time to re-live those early days and build one of those beauties once again!
Damian Rigby (AussieReg) came up with the idea and led the campaign with the following fourteen entrants completing the campaign with some outstanding builds of some matchbox flying nostalgia.
Gladiator by Jessica Cooper (Jessie_C)
Sea Venom by Chris Wilson (c4willy)
HP Heyford by Andrew Egan (amegan)
Lightning T55 by Allen Berry (Tomcat31)
Fairey Seafox by Stephen Willdig (phantom_phanatic309)
P-51 Mustang by Samantha Berry (Camogirl)
Aeritalia G-91Y by Ken (oraora)
Hellcat by Jesper (SGTJKJ)
Fury by Jessica Cooper (Jessie_C)
F-86A Sabre by Mark Doremus (MD72)
Junkers Ju-188 by Phil Box (almonkey)
Walrus by Guido Hopp (Tailor)
A-20G Havoc by Dirk Pitt (DirkPitt289)
Do-18G-1by Trevor Snyder (Snorri23) – not pictured

Well done Damian! Matchbox is often criticized for the trench-like panel lines; however, they did have some models as you’ve shown here that had merit. Additionally, the kits went together quite well and were solid once complete. Thanks for sharing and congrats to the winners!

Its great to see experienced modelers pulling the older kits down and giving them the TLC treatment! Model On!
