The NorEastCon Plastic Scale Model Exhibition is an annual event and this year was hosted by the IPMS Rochester Model Club. The club makes its home in the city of Rochester located in upper New York State near the southern shore of Lake Ontario. The show was held on May 3rd and 4th of this year (2013), and marked the 42nd year of its existence.
NorEastCon 42, the 2013 show
There were 8 main categories comprising Aircraft, Armour, Automotive, Figures, Ships, Science Fiction, Real Space, Collections, Miscellaneous, plus Bantam and Junior. Each of these was in turn further subdivided into 80 individual subcategories. The number of subcategories varied from category to category but for each a first, second or third prize award was available.

Models were displayed on tables, by categories, in one large room while a second room provided a venue for numerous tables for vendors selling almost anything and everything pertaining to the hobby. Judging took place during the afternoon of the second day and a reception/banquet was held later that evening with the awards ceremony following.

Special thanks to Mark Wright of IPMS Sir Isaac Brock for providing pictures used in the preparation of this Feature.

About Jan Etal (tread_geek)
FROM: ONTARIO, CANADA

I've been building models since about age 10 with the occasional hiatus due to real life events. First armour model was a 1/76 Airfix Tiger I and was followed by a 1/72 Revell F4U Corsair. I've built primarily 1/76 and 1/72 armour and aircraft but occasionally have tinkered in other larger scales....

Jessica, My thanks to you and any and all involved in the preparation of this feature and getting it published. However, I'm just curious about why a few pictures were omitted. Firstly, are spacecraft not considered appropriate to Aeroscale? Secondly, what about this thing: It actually flew! Work on it started at the Airborne Forces Experimental Establishment in Manchester, UK in 1940 by attaching rotor blades to a jeep. Nicknamed the ‘Rotabuggy’, initial tests involved dropping the jeep from heights of a few yards while it was filled with concrete to demonstrate it could take the impact without damage. It's first test flight was in 1943 and considered limitedly successful. Cheers, Jan

Hi Jan, The spacey things belong better in Modelgeeks but the Rotabuggy was missed out by accident. It's in there now.

Thanks Jessica I'll make a note of that for the future. Cheers, Jan
