history
The North American Aviation T-6 Texan was a single-engined advanced trainer aircraft used to train pilots of the United States Army Air Forces, United States Navy, Royal Air Force and other air forces of the British Commonwealth during World War II and into the 1950s. Designed by North American Aviation, the T-6 is known by a variety of designations depending on the model and operating air force. The USAAC and USAAF designated it as the AT-6, the United States Navy the SNJ, and British Commonwealth air forces, the Harvard, the name it is best known by outside of the US.During the Korean War and, to a lesser extent, the Vietnam War, T-6s were pressed into service as forward air control aircraft.
the model
This is Occidental's 1.48 kit marked as an LT-6 forward air control aircraft as used by the USAF during the Korean conflict. The decals were taken from Eagle Strike's "Texans over Korea" sheet for LT-6D 49-3579, 6147 TACP Group Chunchon 1953, Pilot unknown.Comments
Ryszard, Just an outstanding build, and an equally impressive presentation.
Your build could have been OOB or super detailed, but it really doesn't matter in the manner that you have presented your LT-6. A simple, yet highly effective vignette setting. The model looks like a 1:1 real aircraft, especially with the natural lighting, which is what this hobby is all about.
The near perfect NMF looks basically monotone with the exception of the engine cowl, yet is subtly weathered so that one gets the impression that's it's a depiction of an aircraft that has seen time in the air, yet well maintained.
