Jean Barby brings us his latest masterpiece - Classic Airframes' Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Aerosilurante (torpedo-bomber):
"Here are some my pics of my last work depicting a plane of the 278° Squadriglia, an unit which was instrumental in the elaboration of the tactics used with so much success by the "Aerosiluranti" in 40 and 41 during the hard fights over the Med. I have included WIP pics to show the job done for the inside details. This is still a much better model than the Trumpeter! This SM.79 wears one of the scheme used by these units consisting of Giallo Mimetico 3 as a base and blotches of Green 53192 and Brown 53194 ( Arson Sissi colors codes) the underside is Griggio Mimetico decals are from Sky and Tauro."

Jean, extraordinary Sparviero! I really admire your dedication to detail... I had a similar project on my mind, because I have the model in the stash. Would you be interested in sharing some of your reference for the interior detailing? I will delve into the project in about two years (when I finish everything I started so far, lol) and I would appreciate your help on this. Thumbs up! (both hands and feet!)

Thanks a lot for your friendly comments. One must have book for such a project is definitely the Ali d'Italia on the subject where you will find a plan of all the structure and of the disposition of the different elements inside the plane. If you do a bomber version, it will be different from the aerosilurante. Then searching on Stormo, the Italian aviation devoted site, plenty of great infos can be collected as well. Replic magazine had a two issues article by my old friend A. Saccoccio who was the inspiration for my own. Good luck with your built, Jean.

Hello karl, no S79 during the BoB! Only Fiats, CR 42, G 50, BR 20M, and two CANT Z-1007.
Go to stormo site, I have wrote a dedicated article on the way to paint Italian camos

Best regards, Jean.

Jean,
Just a outstanding build. Your interior detailing is very well done. The build is flawless. But it's your painting of the camo scheme that just caught my eye. Studying the pattern of color over color, you did a remarkable job. No real over spray anywhere. Crisp, sharp demarcation lines just adds to the realism effect.
