In the Museum's own words: The history of the Royal Navy is preserved for the benefit of today's and future generations by the National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) which includes four museums of the Royal Navy (NMRN Portsmouth & HMS Victory, Royal Navy Submarine Museum, Fleet Air Arm Museum and the Royal Marines Museum). Together they tell the story of the Royal Navy - On the Sea, Under the Sea, In the Air and On the Land.XZ499
The Museum's Sea Harrier is XZ499, which began life as a Sea Harrier FRS-1 in the very late 1970s, and participated in the Falklands conflict. It is credited with driving an Argentine gunboat ashore, and also with an air-to-air victory over an Argentine Skyhawk. Converted to the FA-2 standard during the mid 1990s, it was retired from service in 2006. Perhaps surprisingly, only 34 Sea Harriers were delivered to the RN in 1978 and 1979, although another 22 were ordered during the upgrade process in the 1990s.In addition to XZ499, the musesum also has Sea Harrier FRS-1 XZ493 on display as it appeared during the Falklands war. It is posed quite dramatically on a representation of the Royal Navy's innovative "ski jump" ramp.

This shows even more proof that we need that 24th scale F/A 2 Sea Harrier-or at least the conversion kit from Airfix!
