introduction
The Curtiss P-40 was a development of the earlier P-36, replacing the P-36's radial engine with an inline Allison V-1710. While the aircraft was outclassed by the Spitfire, Bf 109 and the principal Japanese fighters, in the hands of a good pilot, it could hold its own in combat, and in the early days of the war it was all the US Army had to offer.

The P-40's great strength was its adaptability. Curtiss continuously developed new versions such that the final P-40Q version of 1944 was almost completely different from the early versions.
the model
Trumpeter's 1/32 P-40B is a nice model, but I decided to challenge myself with this build, so I cut away large areas of the exterior, and scratchbuilt the interior structure thus revealed.
