history
Created as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan in 1941, Boundary Bay Airport currently serves several flying schools, and as the host airport for CHC Helicopters Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility, Heli-One. Regional air services also operate from the airport. It is popular with business jet operators due to its much less crowded conditions compared to Vancouver International.airshow 2014
The 2014 airshow was held on July 19th. The weather was cool, mainly cloudy and quite windy. The very strong crosswinds blowing from the South made flying tricky and caused the cancellation of the Canadian Army's Skyhawks Parachute Team jump which would have opened the show. These photographs were taken of the aircraft and helicopters on static display at the beginning of the airshow. Unhappily, my camera decided to experience problems and thus I was unable to take any photos of the flying portion of the show, as well as the remaining static displays.
Subjects shown are the RCMP's newest Airbus Heliicopters EC-120 Colibri, an Aero L-29 Delphin, a Cessna Citation based at Boundary Bay, CHC Helicopters' EC-332 Super Puma and Sikorsky S-76. As I was taking pictures of the RCAF's CH-146 Gryphon, my camera decided to stop working which deprived me of the opportunity to take any more pictures.
