Earlier this year, I was commissioned to build this aircraft for a retired RCAF pilot, who flew it during his career in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
The aircraft was built OOB with only the addition of aerials.
As per client's request, the model was built clean with no weathering of any kind.
It is the Hasegawa kit in 1:72 scale.
The markings supplied were not specific to this model and were adapted as to represent this
aircraft as per some photographs supplied by the client.
The model was painted with a custom mix of TAMIYA acrylic paint to represent 501 109, as used by the RCN & RCAF in that time period.
All other colors are from the Tamiya line as well.

Joe,
Now that's one very impressive P2V-7 Neptune. You did an excellent job building, and finishing it. I built the kit when it 1st came out, and I some what recall that it wasn't the easiest of builds.

@ John.....Thank you.
@ Joel.....Thank you.
I do agree that the kit was not the easiest of builds. The problems that were encountered were poor
fitting parts especially the clear parts and lack of detail, in general.
To top it all off, the decals provided by the client were not correct for this
aircraft...based on photos I improvised new ones, mostly printed by home printer, to match the real aircraft.
A little filing here and there and some putty fixed the fit problems.
I can say that what may have saved the day was the paint job, as the client's
compliment was that I had successfully rendered the color of the model as he remembered it.
In the end, despite minor frustration, it all worked out.
Cheers,
Joe

Beautiful work Joe. I like any aircraft with a red/white lightning bolt down the side! I built the Hasegawa P2V-7 in my youth, but as the dark blue US Navy version. I have another in the stash with the Falcon P2V-5 conversion. Hmm... maybe a DP-2E in colourful VC-5 markings?

Hi pwiegman,
Thank you for liking.
And yes, a DP-2E in VC-5 markings, that would make a very colorful aircraft.
Looking forward to that build.
Cheers,
Joe
