Engines
The kit replicates beautiful complex detail in the engines. If you want to super-detail them up you can either leave a cowling off or open or even build the included display stand. It truly is a model in itself. You must pay close attention, as the tolerances are tight and fit complex. I knew I was going to close up the cowlings. So i didn't bother painting anything other than the outer are as seen from the front.Cockpit
The cockpit is compact and dark RLM66. I used a couple different manufacturers for some tonal variety. I use enamels to paint the details. I gave it a wash, and flat coat to seal everything in. I chose the clear instrument panel and applied decals to the back and used masking fluid on the faces. It turned out not to bad.Fuselage and Wings
The fuselage went together pretty well. I wasn't leaving any panels open. There are many possibilities to see weapons bays, guns, radio equipment, etc. One thing i wish companies would do is provide multiple fuselage halves. One with panels already closed and one open. Its becoming the norm for kits to be harder to close up. Once again tolerances are tight so dry fit, sand, and pay close attention. There are a few ejector pin marks to contend with and a gap that need filler along the back of the wings before the flaps. I didn't bother with alot of the internal ribbing, guns or fuel tanks as the just won't be seen. But if you wanted to detail is superb. The engine nacelles are extremely tight around the engine and filler will be needed. I tried to make the upper seem as smooth as possible and left the filler to the bottom. I use CA and dental powder or filler. Something that always annoys me is havering to put the gear in before you paint the model, but that is just unavoidable in this aircraft. Also there is a seam that needs filling and sanding on the flaps. Its molded this way to give you a thin trailing edge and looks great once dealt with.Comments
Joe,
Fantastic work! I hope my Z-M Ki-45 looks a fraction as good. I looked at this model at the IPMS NatCon and it has an incredible level of detail. Thanks for showing us what it can build into.

you've done a fabulous job on that kit and although it's a bit to big a scale for my taste when it comes to aviation.
