Aircraft Color and Markings
Interior:
The whole interior: Floor, trans housing, seat frames, sound proofing. FS 36231 GRAY
Instrument panel: FS 36231 Gray, w/ FS 37038 Black dial faces and radio equipment faces
Seat canvas: (2) choices FS 11136 Ins. Red or FS 34087 O.D. with belts in white or light gray
Pilot/Copilot seats: Frame: FS 36231 Armor: FS 37038, Cushions FS 34087 with Belts: white/ or light gray
The frames are gray and the armor is black w/ white or yellow stencil lettering.
Note: If aircraft is equipped for NVG flight. Cockpit is all flat black, fwd of the cabin/cockpit bulkhead. The instrument panel is equipped with blue panel lights

Exterior:
The exterior of helos varied in shades of OD.
They used dark green, light green, black, and tan for camo schemes (check referance)
Tops of Horizontal Elevators: varied, could be OD, White, Black, HiVis Orange (check reference.)
Blades: FS 37038 Black w/ yellow tips or 18” bands. They also some times painted 12”/18” bands on the mid point of the blades for recognition.
Rotor Hub Assy. FS 36231 w/ green and red dot markings on hubs and drag links to help in tracking the blades.
Armament: Rocket pods were O.D. Mini guns were steel or metal, some were painted neutral gray. Refer to weapons fitted.

Vietnam Choppers: Helicopters in Battle 1950-1975 by Simon Dunston
The UH1-C/M had the uprated Lycoming T53-L-13 for increased pwr. and weight. The blades were of the 540 door hinge type, developed for the AH-1G Cobra. The blade cord was 27”. The tail-boom was extended 15” and the elevators were increased in chord width to 2’-4” and a span of 9’-4”. The tail rotor chord was 8”.The vertical tail was increased in chord, and a slight camber was built into the last 3” to offset rotor torque. All engine colors are various shades of bare metal *note: the engine is made up of magnesium, aluminum, and steel. All of the fuel and oil lines are of the stainless steel braided type.
