The P-38 has always been one of my favourite aircraft from WWII. There's something about it to me that makes it look deadly yet sexy.

I've been watching the tracker for the last few days and assumed that they were sat there due to the bad weather that seems to be going around at the moment

I really do hope that it can make it this time.

MISSION UPDATE:
We'll post a video update as soon as we can but here's the unfortunate situation.
Glacier Girl's attempt to complete her mission has ended for now. She will remain in Goose Bay while Miss Velma continues on to England. It is human spirit to never give up and the team is now focused on completing Bolero for the Mustang.
It's a little crazy right now, but I just talked with Ed. He's at 5500 feet, 34 min to LOACH. Rod Lewis, Steve and John Hinton are in the Pilatus. Flight of two.
More shortly.
No point at all in risking the aircraft and pilot.
Early days of course, but I hope they will try again next year.

Sad News indeed, but I'm sure the pilots and support crew have done and are doing their best. Remember GG is over 60 years old, they will take care of the old girl and get her flying again, maybe not to Duxford this year, but that doesn't mean they won't try again.

Very sad news. Was desperate to See GG at Duxford - would have been the highlight of the show, however Miss Velma will get a warm reception, and who knows - maybe next year?
Good luck to all involved - and thanks for trying.

Hi there
Great news about Miss Velma!

I reckon Glacier Girl must have been listening to the UK weather reports and decided it was much wiser to stay the other side of The Pond... and Lo and behold! It's started pouring with rain again as I type this! :-)
All the best
Rowan
