Hello everyone,
I apologize in advance for this most basic of questions, but have mercy, I am primarily an armor modeler.
I have read several books on how to make realistic canopies, but am having difficulty accomplishing this. I tried sanding the canopy with a fine grit sand paper followed by polishing with toothpaste (this was the method learned in one of the books). The result is terrible. The canopy has a frosted glass appearance.
What are your most successful techniques, and is my botched canopy fixable?
thanks,

I always use the "micro mesh system" (got mine from http://www.little-cars.co.uk) its a series of increasingly finer sanding pads starting at 3200 grit up to 12000 grit and is then followed by a very fine polish. I then sometimes finish that off with some even finer polish a friend in the automotive industry got me. Finally a dip in some Johnsons Klear (or Future in the States) and just wick away the excess on a piece of kitchen towel. Hope this makes sense.
