Hi David.
Its hard to tell from the photos but it looks like youve made a nice job of this old Airfix kit. They can certainly be problematic in their assembly.
I guess from the strategically positioned jar of paint that you have a tail sitter.
To help you remember,,"P-38?,,,add some weight!"
Some small fishing weights or similar will avoid the Lightning sitting down.
Well done,,,whats next?

I'm thinking about starting a blog for the F-18. Do you think there would be interest in it?

Hi again David.
I would recommend starting a build thread for your F-18.
There is always interest and I have found its the best way to learn new methods and recieve hints and tips as you go along. Also,if you find yourself at a "sticky" point of the build, there will always be someone to give you some advice.
Go for it!

The main gear struts look splayed outward to me.

Was this model hand painted? The demarcation lines look a little rough in places, perhaps some careful touchup in places could clean them up a little.

Good looking lightning.

You can start a thread on almost anything, and others will be interested and knowledgable. Go for it.

I painted it using spray paint. And, about the F-18, I'm almost done with it. I finished the main fusealage in a day. The fit was good except where the intakes are. Its a fun kit too.

Looks as if she is a tail sitter. Placing weights inside the engine nacelles forward of the mains and tucked into the nose probably could have made her stand on all three legs. Sometimes you don't find out until after the model is built, I try to add weight as I build just in case.

Hi David

Nice job on the Airfix kit. One way to solve the tail sitting problem is to find a suitable base and simply glue the wheels in place.

Share your progress on the F-18 - even if it is almost done.
