My Metalizer ate through the liquid mask I used on my canopy.



But with some gentle scrapping and an application of Future ...



It's not headed for the dust bin after all.

P.S. Well not because of that disaster anyway. Someone does look out for Fools, Drunks, Young Children, and Model Airplane Builders.

Did you dip your canopy into Future first? If you would have you would have had a barrier between the canopy and the Metalizer. All you would have to do is strip the whole canopy with piece of paper towel soaked with Windex. Then you'd have be able to clean it up and rework it with minimum effort.

Simplistic...fill a clean glass jar deep enough with Future to submerge the part in. I usually leave part of the sprue attached to facilitate handing and grasping with a tweezer. Dip the part, blot off the excess with a paper towel. Let dry in a dust free spot. Repeat if needed. This protects the clear parts so if you make a boo boo you can easily remove the paint and the Future to begin again. It also acts as a barrier to prevent fogging caused by superglues (CA), It is the simplest things that make building better and easier.

SnJ products were a Godsend on this project

WOW!! That was some fix-up! I have had my share of modeling disasters, but I think that one may have topped mine! I still have yet to use Future (just one more product, right?) but with two NMF planes on my workbench, I think I will invest in a bottle! Thank you for this cautionary tale and happy modeling!
