I did a search on this -couldn't come up with anything- apologies if it's been discussed ad nauseum
What would be the best 1/48 kit to depict an A-10 currently serving in the Iraq War ?
any reference for markings and camouflage ?
I've heard the 1/32 Trumpeter is pretty good- but the size is a bit too big for me (small apartment, very curious cat....)
Thanks!
Peter

Best one kicking around is the Revell-Monogram kit, it is currently sold in a couple of different packagings, one with a set of paints. Verlinden makes a detail set for it that adds cockpit and gunbay detail. Kit is under $20 and looks good OOB.

:-) I agree with Rob, Revell-Monogram. I have the kit and the VP set. Another part built project (forgotten all about this one, thanks Peter :-) ). My original intention was to do a diorama with the ammo loader. I've re-scribed the panel lines and was adding detail to the VP resin, wires and stuff :-)

i agree about the R-M kit but be sure to include the GPS bump right behind the cockpit, it is standard equipment now to aid in navagation!!!! Trumpeter added it to their 1/32nd kit and would need to be removed for a pre desert storm A10, and if you decie on the 1/32nd kit also get an AM cockpit for it as the kit cockpit is nasty!!!!! stug

Thanks for all the info guys!
Monogram it will be.
Painting- most Warthogs I see on the news these days are painted in a light grey color- this seems to be the 'standard' paint scheme for A-10s deployed in Iraq ?
Markings- it gets dizzying at times trying to keep up with all of the after market sources ( ) , can anyone suggest a source for decals for current A-10 units operating in Iraq?
Thanks again
Peter

Probably, the best A10 model would be the A10-A Thunderbolt. If you want to make it as a diorama, set it in groups of 3. Thunderbolts are quite better for making camouflage schemes caused they are "built" for that purpose. Warthogs are better in that grey-silver color scheme. If you made the Warthog jungle camouflage, it might look like a Thunderbolt. Experiment with what you have.
Uh, because of your small space, it's quite difficult to make a large diorama.

I echo the other request! Help me with decals... I have checked some online stores, but see nothing that strikes me...
Looking for a scheme with the shark's mouth... if there is one out there.

I'm quite sure I've seen new 1/48 A-10 Warthog on the list of models to be released this year by one of manufacturers. But I don't remember which one (Academy, Trumpeter?...).
I think it was somewhere on the list published in FineScale Modeler.

While the color scheme is not what your looking for, Twobobs makes a sheet of A-10 decals with sharks teeth on it but it's for a camo scheme A-10 so it probably won't work for you. Here's the link for it:
http://www.twobobs.net/index.html?target=p_54.html&lang=en-us
They also make another sheet that's for grey scheme aircraft but no sharks teeth. Here's the link:
http://www.twobobs.net/index.html?target=p_19.html&lang=en-us
What's even better is that the decal sheets are 40% off starting yesterday until their gone. Hope this helps some.
