Well with about 4 days to go before the end of the Down Low campaign, I have started my entry .
It is the 1/48th Tamiya P-47D Bubble-top. I am confident I can complete this before the deadline as long as I can keep myself motivated and not get distracted by a certain Eduard Mirage 2000 which I keep looking longingly at .
The cockpit is done, not the best that has been posted on the site, but I am happy with it. Its still a bit wet from the wash I gave it.
I am hoping to be able to get the fuselage closed up before bedtime .

Thanks Andy. The new set-up is working well, no going into the outhouse to spray anything anymore, because I am in the outhouse .
I managed to get the fuselage closed up, added the wings and tail section.
I just need to do a little sanding along the seams.
You have got to love these Tamiya kits, they just fall together and are extremely well designed.

Update
The main camo scheme is now done. I used Tamiya Olive Drab as a base coat and then faded it with White Ensign Models Soviet Olive Green and then a bit of Soviet Green. The underside was done with a base coat of Tamiya Sky Grey followed by a thin coat of WEM Soviet Blue.
Next up will be giving it a coat of Future ( even though its pretty shiny already) and then applying the decals which I will "borrow" from another kit.

Hi Andy!

A Speed build! That's very nice!

I think everyone should try one from time to time just to see how fast you can actually build a model. You must be very motivated though, disciplined and... a little bit crazy!

Good luck for the rest of the build... there are only two days left!

Hahaha,,hes at it again,,
Firstly Andy,,,its looking really good!
Secondly,,I think your mad,,but then I knew that already mate!
I was contemplating a "speed build" on a future project but was thinking more along the 3 "weeks" timeframe than 3 DAYS!,,lol.
Im really interested to see how that fading technique turns out,and we can compare P47's side by side at Aeroventure in a couple of weeks.
Go for it mate,,Im sure you'll have it done in time!

Thanks guys.
I'm not mad, it just every time I looked at another kit to build the P-47 kept glaring at me and reminding me of promises of building it being broken .
The next update will be the finished plane.

Hi Andy!

Wow! Congratulations!

Tamiya kits are known to fall together but this is nevertheless a great performance. I'm looking forward to see the other pics. Now you are ready to build a certain Mirage...

Lovely job Andy.
It would take me that long to paint a cockpit tub on one of these babys!
Really like the paint chipping on this, and its unusual to see one in Russian markings.
Did you forget the yellow tips on the prop blades in your mad rush of a build or were they missing on this aircraft?

Thanks Andy. Even by my standard three days was fast .
I thought about starting this kit for 5 months and 26 days if that makes you feel better .

I'm hoping to finish the 72 scale black cat for Aeroventure - if we display - thats an 11 month build so far.

:-)
