While it's maybe a little more of the proverbial curate's egg than I''d expected, Classic Airframes' new 1/48 scale Dornier will nevertheless undoubtedly build into a very impressive model.

I ordered this one on sale a few weeks ago. Thanks for the nice review.

I have never had a kit from Classic Airframes before. Will they replace damaged decals?

Hi Carl

They should do - although I can't speak from experience, as I've never tried ordering spares from Classic Airframes. (Their kits are sourced from Eastern Europe and I've had no problem getting spares for other short-run kits made there.)

In my case, I'm not too worried about the decals as I still have a sheet of Hannants' Xtradecals #010-40 which I bought years ago for the old Hobbycraft kits and I'll build the Dornier as a Luftwaffe machine.

All the best

So, what happened to the twin spinners campaign?

You can probably see where I'm going with this one. I guess technically the Me 262 has twin spinners also.

Twin spinners campaign? That would be cool. If there's one coming up, I'm in.

But talking of the review. The decal policy is strange indeed. I remember CA using historically correct markings in the past, what gives now? IIRC, their Brewster kit had one-piece swastikas and even had the markings on the box art and all. Now they're the same style as in MPM kits. Well, at least the colors are now right (older MPM its had much too light blue)

This is quite interesting really, comparing the reception of CA kits in Finland and abroad. While reviews on foreign sites have been mainly positive, there was a lot of griping on Finnish forums, the same as most CA kits.

Hi Eetu

I quite agree about Finnish insignia. There definitely seems to have been a change in policy somewhere that makes no sense at all to me. It's politcal correctness gone mad in my opinion.

I think I must fall into the middle ground on the Do 17 - I'm generally pleased with the kit, but disappointed about some aspects. I can't help wishing that Classic Airframes had chosen MPM to produce the kit for them - I think the way they handle fabric surfaces is superb and I prefer their style overall, compared to Sword.

All the best

Rowan
