Once the Mig 15bis was completed I decided to knock out this Hasegawa 1:48 F-86F-30. The photo shows the amount of progress I've made in about six hours of effort thus far. I will start the exterior paint next. I will also include some close up shots of some of the interiors.



I hope to have this project wrapped up no later than Monday evening.

Will it be a metal finish paint scheme, and if so what paint brand will you use ?

Yes definitely an all NMF. Highly polished in fact using Talon Series acrylics just like this P-47 I did last week. The whole NMF process should only take me a couple of hours.

Continued the process a little further tonight, heres a peek at the pit, still has a few things to get done before it can be closed up.



The shine is even more evident when you add a decal or two.



Here's where she sits for tonight. Tomorrow I see if I can get more done.

I see you didn't cut the carrier film on the USAF wing marking. Do you think it will disapear once dry? Or do you have a secret to eliminate it?
I suppose these are the kit's decals. I know by experience that Hasegawa decals are quite thick...

The newer Hasegawa decals are much improved. I have a few tricks up my sleeve.

How do you like the Talon acrylics? They certainly look great, and since I prefer acrylic's they would be great to have.

Your build does look great. I like NMF, and am constantly experimenting to get it right. Carrier film is hard to deal with. But overspraying with clear isn't much of a choice either.

So what was your solution, and more importantly, your results?

To answer your question about my likes or dislikes about the Talon acrylics, I had better say I love the stuff...I manufacture it. The product is selling very well and I am starting to get pictures of models done with it. So far the feedback has been positive. Like any product, it takes a little adaption to get use to. Switching from enamels and lacquers over to acrylics regardless of manufacturer of the paint takes a bit of a different application approach. Something that is quite easily achieved.

I've got several projects going on the bench to use to give me as much of an opportunity to work with the product and find its potential. I know there are modelers out there who will come up with more techniques than I ever will.

The whole idea behind my products is to offer novice to experienced models an opportunity to achieve a realistic NMF with minimal effort and great results, so the NMF isn't considered a scheme they fear to take on.
