Hi all,
Just thought I'd share some progress pics from one of my projects on the bench at the moment - the Planet Models 1/48 CAC CA-6 "Wackett". The CA-6 was an Australian designed and built basic trainer utilised by the RAAF throughout WW2 and after. It's a bit of a change from my regular staple modelling diet of WW1 aircraft. This one stood out to me as not only is it a uniquely Australian aircraft, but it just has a strange and amusing look to it that appealed to me.
This is my first ever all-resin kit - there is no photo-etch or white metal parts at all. Every part is very finely cast and the recessed panel lines are very fine. I started in the cockpit, which has some sharply cast sidewall detail. I made some enhancements to the cockpit using plastic card, plastic rod and fine wire. Details included scratching the strcture behind the rear seat, adding gauge bodies and wiring to the rear instrument panel, adding foot straps made from foil, and adding cables from various components. Here it is before painting:
Here are some pics after the cockpit was painted. I also added some Eduard pre-painted RAF harnesses to the seats.
Next is onto major assembly. All comments and feedback welcome!

Wow, the detail provided makes this look like a possible gem to me. One of these days I will get the nerve to make the plunge into full resin kits.

Nice one Brad
Excellent work - and its great to see you building a WW2 subject! The work you've done on the wiring and placards looks superb.
:[]-- Planet Models' Wackett is a kit I've often been tempted to buy, but has somehow always slipped through the net. As you can see from my reviews, I love their recent resin kits. I've actually just started the Avia B.35.1 - see the Review HERE - which has a similarly nice cockpit. I've got a couple more Planet Models kits on order (not the Wackett), so look out for reviews to come.
All the best

Hello Brad,
Looking good so far! How is the kit coming along? I just bought this kit and will finish it in Dutch east Indies markings.
Cheers,
Leon

I still marvel at the engine from the 1/72 DH-4 I bought of you years ago. The kit is still unbuilt, but the engine sits on my workbench and looks fabulous. I am looking forward to see what you can do in the larger scale.
