This is my side project which I'm tinkering with when glue and paint dries on the 1/35 armour. It is a Bilek 1/72 CH-53D (re-boxed Italeri if I'm not wrong) and an ACE Lav C&C vehicle. Both models is mostly putty since the fit is terrible on both kits. The idea is to picture an ordinary training day with some Marines just being air lifted into the training area just after the first Gulf War. The CO has driven down with his LAV to greet his troops and is waiting for them to get off the heli.
I have just started the paint job and have a long way to go before it is finished. The base will be tarmac and some desert if anybody don't come up with a better idea...

Erik

A Squad leader is telling his men were to go while the COs crew is watching

Not a good pic, but I have installed a crew chief looking out of the door

Looks good so far. The "story" sounds consistent.

Where did you get the figures? They look good.
Resin or styrene or what are they made of?

I was about to ask the same question. Are they Preiser's Modern US Army figures?

As an optional base you could think about the same story, just in an In Country base, ground exposed in a cleared well esatblished pad. Same idea just different type of ground.

Correct, they are pretty good for 1/72 scale.
