Finally calling it done. Well, almost. The kit gunsight was lacking so I ordered a resin replacement. when that gets here THEN it will be done.
Lovely kit, Tamiya's F4U-1D. I must build more. This one is covered with MM enamels.
Weather is silver pencil, MIG oils.
I short cut some of the things I normally do in the name of moving on with life. I tried to keep this one simple and pay more attention to the paint, an area I need to improve in.
The engine got wiring and the landing gear legs got a couple of details and that's it. The base is one I had laying around and you will likely see more of it. Since I lost my photo area space is limited and it will have to do.
I got out my History Channel DVD on the Corsair for some sort of reference on the antenna. Not really sure if it's correct or not but I saw more of this type than not, so on it went.
So, there you go. Peaceful day, Band of Brothers on in the background, cool beverage on the side, completed model. Been a good day. Thanks for looking.

Very nice, I love the Corsair and you have done it proud.
There is still time to enter this in the September MOM. Just remember that the picture for the gallery must not be on a base.
If you aren't able to enter this this month (due to time differences I guess) then, as it is finished so close to October, I would allow it to be entered then, as long as there are no objections from other members. Which I'm sure that there wont be

I love the model and keep meaning to do one myself. I really like the weathering. How did you do the paint chipping?

Thanks for the compliments, all.
Chris, the chips were done with a Prismacolor silver pencil.

This is one of those planes that looks great with a factory finish paint job, or sand beaten ond splatterd with oil. It looks good.
