After an 8 year restoration, and over 14 years since the types last flight, at just after 12.30 today Vulcan XH558 took to the skies over Leicestershire.
Luckily, I wasnt working today and was able to make the short trip to Bruntingthorpe and witness the first post restoration flight.
Im still grinning from ear to ear
A mighty roar and look what appeared from behind the trees...
A huge to those who said it couldnt be done!!
Im sure there will be some fabulous photos posted on the official XH558 website, but at the moment its down,,so enjoy these pictures for now
Still grinning! Break out the champagne!!

Terrific news. This is easily the milestone for the entire warbird movement! I have assembled some more pictures and videos from the restoration and her previous public appearance in 1992 - what an awesome sight in the air!

..pilot was former Vulcan test pilot Alan McDicken - his first Vulcan flight in 25 years apparently !!!
..pulled out the ' The Vulcan Story' from my pile of old videos last night and there he was again - describing (with footage) how to roll and loop the Vulcan and how this great British machine was far in advance of its contemporaries... (B- 52 !!)
(I lived on the base at RAF Marham during my formative years so I'm a big fan !)
thanks for the pics Nige ...!!
