I am working on a 1/72 scale, of course, A-26B. Does anyone know if any of the groups in WW2 painted the engine nacelles from the cowl flaps back black?
I have seen natural metal finish aircraft, artist representations, of A-26B with this somewhat unusual paint scheme.
I once knew an air force pilot who said he recalled B-25's having their engine nacelles painted black due to the fact they put out so much exhaust stain. Interesting if true. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks, Russell.

Like that?
It seems that this one in those colors ant the Strategic Air And Space Museum, so I would anticipate that the colors are at least somewhat common.
