I had a slight mishap with my Buccaneer kit. My forward canopy has snapped. Does anyone have a spare or have any idea how to get ahold of this discontinued kit. I'll even buy the kit if anyone has a copy. thanks in advance. Steve

What scale are we talking about? Airfix has done both a 1/48 and a 1/72 scale Buc.

Hi Steve,

I can't help directly with the canopy but it might be worth an e mail to Airfix.
They have helped me out before when I have bought secondhand kits even though some were long deleted.

All the best,

Hi Steve,

Sorry for the delay in replying. However, I hope that by now Airfix have come back to you ?
They used to be fairly quick to respond but since the Hornby takeover, I don't know what the situation is.
The only other alternative might be a Falcon Vac replacement but I am not sure they ever did one for the Buccaneer.

All the best,

Kristian.

Hi Steve,

It might be worth asking Squadron.com. They do / did carry the Falcon range and so they should be able to tell you if they ever did a Buccaneer canopy.
In the meantime, I will have a look round some of the UK hobby shops I deal with and see if I can find any other solution.

All the best,

Kristian.

Hi Steve,

I don't know if you have had any luck with the canopy but I thought I would try an e mail to Airfix and see if a UK based e mail might elicit some response.
So far. zilch....

The only other thing I can suggest is that I know of a secondhand kit for sale at a dealer for approx $28 plus P&P. If he has still got it, it could be a solution albeit an expensive one.

You have my sympathy as I know what it is like to have a kit with a missing part that is difficult to obtain.

If you are interested in the secondhand kit, let me know and I will put you in touch with the seller (with whom I have no connection, I hasten to add).

All the best,

Kristian.

Hi Steve,

You may have found this before but if not, this may be of some help http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal5/4801-4900/gal4817_Buccaneer_Gibson/gal4817.htm

All the best,

Kristian.

Thanks that was helpful. I may be able to do something with that mix. But I may be able to match the colours he used with something close in the model master line of paints. I think with a preshade and an oil wash I might be able to get it close enough. thanks again.
