Hello all,

Does anyone out there have pics or scale drawings of the 80hp Renault engine used in the early Airco DH6 and Farman Shorthorn pushers?

Thanks,
Mark

Thank you, Hugh.

Does anyone have any idea what the part marked #7 on the previous picture could be. The part between the pistons.

Thanks,
Mark

Yep.
Plate Aluminium canopy... Not sure why. But if you look at an RAF1 you'll see similar.

Hugh,

I'm collecting references for a scratchbuild I plan to do after I finish the M.5. I haven't decided which aircraft I'll build but it will be a WW1 plane and entirely scratchbuilt every step posted on Aeroscale.

The M.5 used either a 100hp Gnome Monosoupape as a trainer aircraft or a 100hp Clerget as a combat aircraft. I have an idea on how to scratchbuild the 100hp Gnome or Clerget. I'll post on the M.5 thread when I get to that point and share it with everyone. I appreciate your responses and interest in my build.

Hmmm.
Sounds interesting. If you have a close look at the Photos that Stephen posted, you will see that the Induction pipes and magneto are hidden underneath that aluminium canopy.

Any hints as to the aircraft that this will power? A BE2a or b perhaps?

Cheers,

Hugh

Hugh,

I was thinking something along the lines of a Farman Shorthorn or Airco DH6 because I have enough references to do those builds. I hadn't considered the Be2a. That would also be an excellent choice but I have no reference material for it. I'll see what I can come up with. Send me some suggestions for references if you can.

One other big project I have planned for next year is a scratchbuild that I will simply refer to as "The Monster" for now. I'll build it then post pics of the finished model then post the build with techniques. It'll be a few months in the making but well worth the wait.
