It's one of 2 decals with the 1/48 p51D by Fujimi.
I'm wanting to confirm the paint Scheme is it Blue over Silver.

Hi Chris!
I made some researches and the upper camouflage color should be olive drab and not blue. The blue color is a myth because of the poor quality of this original picture...
Here is a close up of E2-S...
... and a small B&W picture for the wing's karman painting pattern...
So your P-51 shouldn't look like that when finished...
When do you plan to start your build? Maybe we could build it together as I have the same kit. I wonder how it will look like when compared to the Hasegawa or Tamiya kits.

Hi Chris.
Your Mustang was failed to return from a mission on August 9th 1944. The pilot that day Lt Donald D Dellinger was reported KIA.
Heres a copy of the text that accompanies the main photo Jean-Luc posted on another site.
Quoted Text
Lt.Col. Thomas J. J. Christian. Group Commanding Officer. P-51D 44-13410 E2-C "Lou IV". Lt.Col. Christian was killed in action on 12 August 1944, shortly after this photo was taken. Known as "The Bottisham Four", this shot from the well known series of colour photos of the flight from the 375th Fighter Squadron is one of the the main sources of evidence used for the argument of blue topsides to the a/c. I have read all of the articles and arguments about this but I am a supporter of the 361st Crew Chiefs who when asked, always laugh and say "we never had any blue painted a/c in the 361st". You can make your own mind up if this photo is any help. Other a/c pictured are 44-13926 E2-S of Lt. Abe P. Rosenberger but said to be flown on this occasion by Lt. Urban L Drew; 44-13568 E2-A "Sky Bouncer" of Capt. Bruce W. Rowlett and P-51B 42-106811 E2-H "Suzy G" of Capt. Francis T Glanker.
Hope this helps
Nige

Hi Jean -Luc,
first off thanks for clarifying the color scheme I queried.
I've finally found a store that still has a few after market decals sets so the paint scheme may change,(3rd time lucky)
Yes I'd be keen to do a build of the P51.
Couple of things:(excuses ,excuses)
I'm more of a figure painter so I haven't finished an aircraft kit I've started yet.(my 6 year old generally ends up flying them around the house)
I've decided to bite the bullet and will be purchasing an inexpensive airbrush over the next couple of days so will be using this as a learning project.
On Tuesday of next week I'm going to be having a Knee operation so I hope to get some work done while recovering , finally when i purchased the kit it came with a resin cockpit and engine I'm about 2/3rds of the way through.

Hello all!
You get a little to laugh here. I did this 1/48th Revell P-51D as a youthful misdeed more than 20 years ago. The E2S decals I cut by a nail-scissors.
Nevertheless, I like my mustang...
Say hello to everyone.
