Hear is a P-48A I built a while bask.. Got the idea from the comic series Luftwaffe 1946 #10 cover picture.. The model is a combining of Monograms F-84F and Academy’s P-47N.. Main fuselage, wings and tail are from the P-47.. Nose and lower part [ jet exhaust ] are from the F-84, and a little putty..

Hi Fred

Very neat! It'd make a good subject for a ducted-fan model - because the proportions and potential centre of gravity make it look like like the beast would actually fly well! It would certainly turn a few heads!

All the best

Look at the early F-84s.. Basely all Republic did was took a P-47 and stuck a Jet engine in and moved the cockpit forward of the wing.. The original consept drawing was of a P-47 with the jet engine in the nose..

Hi Fred

You could write this up into a full article! A combination of period plans and your recreation would be a knockout!

Hi Fred

Great stuff! If you do build another one, keep notes and take pictures as you go - a How-To on a major conversion like this would be really helpful inspiration for a lot of modellers.

Hi Fred
really nice looking job.

At last proof that Luft 46 subjets do not just mean German stuff.

Was it a relatively easy build marrying the parts from the two donor kits?

Cheers

The build for the P-84A was fairly easy.. Take Academy’s P-47 fuselage and Monograms F-84F fuselage an marry them together.. You have to cut out a portion of the P-47’s lower fuselage below the wear Elevators and insert a section of the F-84’s tail section [ jet exhaust ] The noise is done buy Cutting the F-84’s noise off right behind where the Windscreen is.. There is a vertical panel their, That’s where you cut.. You have to add 1 inch between the base of the engine cowling, Leave off the engine cowling noise [ the round part ] and attach the front section of the F-84 to you 1 inch spacer and that is about it.. I will take some pictures of mine when I do it again.. I have to finish my Train Station first.. If you want to see it, go to Armorama [ Whatif’s ] "Back To Old Mother Russia" Except this time

I also did a P-80A.. Their all you do is take a standard F-80 back date it buy painting it Neutral Gary and putting late war markings on it.. You can also build North Americans FJ-1 Fury
