Recently upgraded to a paasche mil and am curious about the use of color cups, do not see much use for the thing other than it is easier to clean, just ordered a dozen color bottle assemblies and bottles and figure that should do, you guys use the color cups? also need a reccomendation for an aircraft model specific airbrush technique book

Hi Dave,
Is your Air brush a single or double action and is it gravity fed or syphon fed?
I'm guessing that it's a single action syphon feed judging by the use of colour bottle assemblies. I guess, if that's the case then the colour cup either plugs into the side or the bottom of the brush?
I used a single action Badger with syphon feed and bottles for many years. It came with a colour cup that plugged into the same recepticle as the bottles and it was fine for making the brush less clumsy and enabling me to get into tighter spaces than the bottles allowed (I used Gunze bottles on mine, they were much smaller than the supplied bottles, but could still get in the way).
I changed to a double action gravity fed airbrush 2-3 years ago and it is much mure convenient as there are no bottles hanging off the bottom and just a small interchangeable colour cup on the top. I can even use it without the cup and this gives me the ability to get in really close. I still use my single action when spraying Allclad II and the like because I can add a couple of BBs to the bottle to help keep it mixed properly.
So bottles or colour cup, it depends on what you are painting
As for a book on painting Aircraft? Sorry I don't know of any.

double action siphon fed plugs into bottom, thanks for the info, the color cup is a bit smaller than the 1oz bottle but the 1/2 oz bottle is the one I am going to try the color cup spills rather easily.
