Ok, Here are the questions I am faced with when building my 110. Mal, maybe you can help.
I want to do a diorama, just a little one. The decals I get with the kit are "EM". Its the same plane that Mal built. Where was this stationed? What did it do?
I want to know if they operated the G-2's in Norway, and if they did then what color were they? I have a profile of one that says it was in Norway in the spring of '45.
I wanted to also know if they used them in N. Afrca? I know they used that "Wespen" one, the one with the wasp on the front in Italy. Could I make a G-2 diorama that was stationed in Italy?
Thanks!

:-) Hi Chip,
Can't really help you with where and what of "EM", I have very limited references. I simply built it out of the box. What I can say though is that yellow was the colour for the Russian theatre, but if fitted with the air to air rockets then my guess would be defence of Germany, as these rockets would probably only be of any use against massed bombers. This is not to say they weren't used in Russia, just seems unlikely. The yellow was also used as a recognition marking. What references I do have all suggest defence of the Reich. I have evidence of G-2s of 5/ZG 76 at Grossenhain in 1943-44, again bomber destroyers.
G-2s were operated in Norway, I have a profile of a G-2 of 12./NJG 3 based at Stavanger, Norway in the spring of 1945. Could be the same profile as you have, coded 3J+YW (Y in yellow). The undersurface will be RLM 76 Lichtblau (Light blue), uppersurface is difficult but looks like the fuselage is RLM 74 Graugrun (Grey green). Tops of wings can't be seen, they may be solid RLM 74 but my guess is a plinter pattern, similar to "EM" of RLM 74 and RLM 75 Grauviolett (Grey violet). Side of fuselage has an unusual wavey mottle of RLM 74. Spinners are black with white spirals.
None of my references show a G-2 in Africa, latest model is an F, The Wespen G-2 of ZG 1 was in Italy so yes a dio of that would be fine.
HTH :-)
