When I am going to paint it, I paint it the sand yellow, and then the green spots? Or were the green spots just on the side and not the top. Like the 109 in that famous picture with the "blackish" spots all over. Were they even black?

The mottling would be on the uppersurfaces aswell. Colours are RLM 79 Sandgelb (Sand yellow) with a mottle of RLM 80 Grun (Green). The 109 you refer to has Green mottle, it looks black due to the film used at the time.
