Thought I would post a few pics of my 1/32 Hasegawa Ki-84 that I finished earlier this year. Great kit - although I added seat belts, brake lines, and wired the engine to it. Finished it using Aeromaster Enamels (still have some that I am hoarding). Decals are from Eagle Strike - although these were not as easy to use as they had been in the past , with issues getting them to settle and one hinomaru fragmenting on me while I was applying some weathering.

Thanks for looking!

Grant, very nice model and weathering! The Ki-84 is one of my favourite IJAAF types.

Beautiful work there. That "Frank" is a great looking bird. What did you do about the fragmented decal? Just curious. Russell

Thanks for the kind words!

Russel - funny you should ask. I ended up peeling off the fractured decal, then started looking to see if I had a suitable replacement. Unfortunately, anything I had was either the wrong size, or the wrong colour. Same with my paint shades. Eventually, I ordered another sheet of decals and used the hinomaru from that.

So... I guess I'll have to build another Frank to use those decals!

Sharp, Grant! That's one purposeful-looking machine. Ant chance of some detail pics- say, of that plumbed-up engine?

Thanks, Chuck.

I do have some pics around - I'll dig them up and post them, if you'd like.

Great build. This could be an entry for the battle of the Easy Asian Sky campaign if you build it with in the timeframe of the campaign.

Thanks for sharing

Grant,

Very nice!

Since the Ki-84 is one of my favorite planes I was doing some reading about them on Wikkipedia and this is taken from them: "The Hayate's initial testing at Tachikawa in early summer 1943 saw test pilot Lt. Funabashi reach a maximum level speed of 634 km/h (394 mph) in the second prototype, but after the war a captured example was tested by the U.S. Army using high-octane fuel and achieved a speed of 690 km/h (430 mph)." It's other performance areas were right in line with what the Allies were flying in the Pacific as well.

Grant, I look forward seeing more of you models posted here!

Sorry for the delay - finally found the pictures that I took of the engine while building my Hayate.

Of course, once I put the cowling on, you can't see any of the engine detail....

Hi Grant,

Great kit, huh? Your's built into a beauty! Looks like you got the cockpit and prop colors right--unlike me.
