Hai,
I am searching for a good magazine on airplane modelling, hence a few questions:
Are you reading any magazine dedicated to modelling airplanes. If yes, which one(s)?
And more importantly which one do you consider to be the best and why?

There are several out there. SAMI and SAM have a lot of content on primarily British and European subjects. Wing Masters is writteninFrnech and has some really interesting subjects, but I don't read French. Model Aircraft Monthly is another UK produced magazine with again, mostly UK and European subjects. For US subjects I recommend Aerosapce Modeler Magazine. www.aerospacemodeler.com" TARGET="_blank"> www.aerospacemodeler.com This covers those subjects that haven't been given a lot of press. Noticably US, Russian, Japanese etc. and not just P-51's and B-17's. They try to cover a wide variety of subjects and not just the most popular ones. Good quality photos, and supporting text. They not only show what was done in the build, but describe how they did it. Same with any problems encountered in the build. What they were and how they tackled them. There is usually historical data supplied as well as color profiles of the aircraft in the articles, and a fairly large walk around of the subjects. It is only a quaterly at present, but plans are in the works to go to 6 issues a year in the near future. Hands down my choice because I feel I am getting more bang for the buck. The reveiws are more than just ten or 15 words telling me where I can buy it and how much it costs. They provide an honest opinion on whatever it is they are doing. The folks who wrtite for it (Me included) are modelers first, photography guys second, and magazine guys last. We try to bring you the information that I/we/and you, as modelers want to know and can use. Hope this helps. "Q"

I only get SAMI now adays (and it's not because Camogirl writes for them before any ones asks) and I use to get the Tamiya mag but feel they have downhill IMO since they split into 3 seperate mags.

Hi!
At the moment I have SAMI; All-Aircraft, lots of news and reviews!
Model Aircaft Monthly; All-Aircraft with more "in depth" builds and prototype articles.
Fine scale modeller; the diversity in subjects and many good "how to" articles, but Is pretty basic and a tad too much US-oriented for me ( they still gives all measurements in Inches!)
Aerospace Modeller; as good as a mag can be!
I buy It whenever I can, but It´s seldom seen here in Sweden.
Will probably be a subscriber (if possible) when it goes six issues a year ( I´ll ditch FSM then!).
Modell-Fan; German (IPMS) Magazine, Great diversity in subjects and scales.
Very good magazine where Aircraft, Armour, Ships, Cars/Trucks, Sci-Fi and figures all have their own sections.
Add build-reports, "How-to" and new-sections and You´ll get a very full-packed mag, and It´s monthly, but you have to read German!
Not "model" magazines, but a very good reference source Is Aeroplane and AiR Force monthly.
I buy those when I see something with interest to me.
Cheers!

I only regularly get Model Airplane International these days. It has the best quality builds to learn from, and has a good balance of review style articles to more in depth builds. Also it's layout and art is nice- to me anyway. But i just wish they'd fix their over use of ! and ? where it's completely out of place? (that's an example of what i mean) It gets on my nerves.
The others i only get if somehting of particular interest is in that issue. FSM is the one that interests me the least, i like that they cover all types of models, i just don't think it does it well. And yes...it is way too American for me too. But hey, it is their magazine.

Hai,
Thanks for all the feedback.
I have, based on your feedback, been thinking about a subscription on aerospace modeller. Unfortunately, being based in Belgium-Europe, it would mean that I would have to pay as much for the postage as for the magazine itself which seems a bit exagerated.
I notice this often. For instance, I did not take a subscription of Airforces monthly because the subscription for European countries is a third more expensive than subscriptions for the UK (where it is printed) or for the United States.
Why is postage towards europe so expensive???
