I was just wondering if anyone here enjoys building 1/48 scale WW2 bombers? I know I just find alot of satisfaction in it, I can't explain it, I just do.
Right now I'm working on a B-24D, the "Strawberry B****" to be exact and I had to put it off to do my entry for the warship campaign, but I just can't wait to get back to the bomber! #:-)

Yeah, Iike to build them. They are pretty big though, in 48. But thats what makes it more fun, more room to detail.

I also started off on a Academy 1/72 B-24D Liberator('Blonde Bomber'), but gave it up due to lack of time. It's 75% assembled, but am too lazy to go back and finish it !
Well, some time this year perhaps..

I do. I love 1/48th for AC, great detail, impressive size.
I've built a B24, HE111, and have a B17 on the shelf.
I've also built a B36 but not in 1/48.

I like to build Liberators too.I wish some one would make a B-32 Dominator in 1/48th,all injected molding.A B-36 would be huge, but fun.

:-) Yep I like to build anything that flew during WW II, I have only built 1 bomber so far, a Heinkell He 111. I have several in the pile though, Lancaster, B-17G, B-24D, B-29, a Ju88, a Ju 188, another He111, a Dornier Do17Z (in progress) a Do 217 and a Betty. Oh nearly forgot I have a Mistel combination in progress as well :-)
I will have to get on and build some, when Trumpeter bring out their Wellington that will probably go straight to the top of the pile :-) Unless of course it's true about Tamiya's new tool B-17G :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

The 1/48 bombers are the best!, I did the B24D b24J, B17F, B17G, Ju52, B29 Superfortress, he111, Dornier Do17, Do217, Ju88, Ju88 nightfighter, C47 Transport, b25 mitchell... All R/Monogram kits
They all hang majestically from my workshop ceiling...

:-) Bought the Revell boxing of the Mongram B-26 Marauder, yesterday, looks like a very good kit. I will have to rescribe the panel lines but it will be worth it. Anyone built this? anything to watch out for? does anyone have any references, particularly of the internals?

Kent did your B-24 take part in the Ploesti raids? I have an awsome painting of this raid, by Robert Taylor. I can email you a copy if you like, I promise you it's well worth seeing.

Mal,
I havent researched its history that much so i dont really know but you could go ahead and email me the picture anyways, Thanks! The one I'm doing is on display at the Air Force Museum or something and its posted on their website.
Rescribing panel lines scares me. I just use the raised ones even though they can be rather annoying! #:-)
The "Strawberry B****" (my B-24D) operated in North Africa from 43-44'. Mabye that helps, I enjoy history but I have a hard time remembering stuff.

Love those B-17's. I finished my 1/48 Monogram over the Christmas holidays. My boys got me another Monogram B-25. I'll have to get started on it after I finish the HMS Victory for one of my friends. This is the Airfix kit, and man it is a pistol. Can't wait to get back to my birds.
