Hi Peter!

Welcome to Aeroscale!

First of all, I think you should enter your JAS 39C in the Mark Sharpe Modern Aircraft Campaign, see thread here. There will be quite a few builders of modern aircraft to guide and assist you! You might also want to check out the IPMS Stockholm website, http://www.ipmsstockholm.org . There has been a lot of discussions recently regarding Gripen, the armament etc. There are some true experts on Swedish aircraft on that site!

One beautiful aircraft!

I just started a Gripen myself (JAS 39A, italeri 1/72), and I know very little about modern aircraft!!! Hopefully, we might aid each other!

Cheers!

Hey !

I am woundering if i going to join the Campaign, but do i have enough time ?
It´s a pretty time consuming kit, many parts...
I think im joining, if i don´t make it in time, well then i don´t make it !?

Best regards
Peter

Hi Peter,

I've started my 39A (see the campaign). Here are some additional pictures of the cockpit.

Buttons, cables etc are not 100% correct, but I can live with that. Don't forget, this is 1/72!

Hi Peter,

It's the Italeri 1/72 kit, but I've used a mix of resin (Pavla) and PE (Part), together with some scratchbuilt cables etc, in order to get a decent cockpit. I love detailing small scale!

I also plan to use exhaust from Aires and decals from TwoBobs! But somewhere beneath all that, you'll find the Italeri kit!

Good luck with your new airbrush! May the pressure be with you!

Tja Björn !

I also love detailing small kits, mostly 1/72 WW1 planes.
They are really small i can tell you, but there is so much scratchbuilt you can add on and thats the funny part

Back to topic, the kit i have from MPM/best choice is so super detaild.
Don´t know if i make it in time for the campaign.
It´s resin parts from CMK and there is alot of them !
You have to cut away half of the italeri before you even can start the building.

Cheers !

Peter: Here's a couple of new pics. From now on, I'll post most of my updates of my 1/72 JAS 39A Gripen at the Mark Sharp modern campaign thread.

Peter - I haven't seen any pics of your Gripen lately. How's your 39C progressing?

Personally, I've been working hard on my 39A, and I hope to finish it within the revised deadline of the Mark Sharpe campaign.

I've finally decided on which individual to build. I'm going for the 39050 - the last flight out of my home wing (F 10), in the markings of 2002.

Looking forward to see your progress pics!

Hi Peter and all,

I've decided to add an extra touch! A bright yellow and black ladder to contrast the grey. This is tonights work! The ladder PE comes from Part.

wow, awesome work on that ladder! I am sure I would have mashed that into scrap with my big clumsey fingers.

It's going to accent your already lovely Grippen nicely, Bjoern.

Thanks Vanize! The ladder is both fragile and tiny, but a nice addition to the all grey Gripen.

Here's a closeup before weathering etc:

So far, I've only used blue tac, but I'm pretty sure that I am going to keep the ladder!
