Hi all,
I'm in the midst of building Hase's Hurricane Mk.I Rumanian Air Force and have ran into a potential problem. The canopy is (was) one piece and was meant to be displayed in the closed position. I cut the front windshield from the sliding canopy with success, but now the problem. The fuselage is too wide at the part where the canopy would slide, so it sits like a hat! So now the questions:
1)Who makes vac-u-form canopies? I have done light searching, but cannot remember company names.
2) How hard is it to make your own? The LHS has the plastic, but do I have the skill?!
3) Would it be better just to sand the fuse down until the canopy fits? Its pretty close now, but may snowball into disaster!
Thanks,
-Derek

Hi Derek.
Squadron produce canopies for the Hasegawa hurricane in 1/48 scale, I presume this is the scale you are building? Click here to see the product.
I have tried sanding down the rear fuselage on this kit to get the canopy to fit and it needs more of the fuselage remving than you may think to get the canopy to sit right. Even then it didn't look right to me.

I've seen some discussion as to whether they are still available but you can try here

Martin got his recommendation in, while I was typing mine, same response. Hope it helps and good luck.

Guys,
Thanks for the reply. I solved the problem with a trip the LHS. They had Falcon Vac-u-form canopies in a set for ten different aircraft. Sweet! Now I can continue.

I may be mistaken, but aren't Squadron canopies the same as Falcon's, only sold separately?

Eetu,
I'm not sure, the guy at the LHS said they were clearer than Squadron's. Falcon's were made in New Zealand and seem to be of high quality.

Clearer than Falcon's? That's something I have hard time imagining, as I got one squadron canopy pack and one Falcon set, and they both are about as clear as it can get.
Oh, my bad, I should have paid more attention when I last checked out Falcon's website. They indeed produce canopies for squadron:
