Any suggestions on how to see the frames on canopy when masking they seem to get lost in the glare of my lights so it's difficult to place masks.

Hold them up to a light or window. Or if your rich you can purchase a light table (used for tracing).

and when not rich put a mirror on your table and let a light shine under an angle on the mirror.
with some experimenting this gives reflections which help a lot
