Hi . Wow! seems like there's bee a lot TuAF chatter going on when I was looking the other way. To clear one thing the B24 is sort of captured. They landed in Turkish teritory demaged or with slight mulfunctions while returning to base after bombardment in Romenia. They were taken under the TuAF. I am not sure but ptobably under permision from USAAF.
There are some Fw.190Aa3 builds here in local sites. Unfortunately all are in Turkish(languuage). If you need help about it contact me via PM, I'll try to help.
I am working on a F-84G, which will hopefully be TuAF. Can I play too? Please please....

Yalym, Of course you can play! It would be nice it get some early jets on here. If you want, try and do a separate build page. As this thread is getting a little slow, but post a couple finished pics here. Look over the "Rules" post at the top of the thread and have fun!

Here's my Swiss Bf109D built from the Classic Airframes kit. The bit of research i did for this one was very interesting and i learnt a few things about the Swiss airforce during WW2. Neutral Switzerland may have been, non-combatant they were not! The Swiss took a forceful approach to protecting their neutrality, resulting in them often shooting down aircraft of both sides- usually when the German/Allied aircraft mistakenly fired upon the Swiss aircraft that would intercept the intrusion of their airspace.
The Bf109D's were not much different than the standard German aircraft- the MG's were replaced with slightly smaller 7.45mm MG29's instead of the standard 7.62mm guns. 10 Bf109D's were purchased from Germany initially- so the type was only used in small numbers compared to the later Bf109E. However the surviving D's served until 1949.
In 1944, after a series of incidents when US Mustangs mistakenly shot down a pair of Swiss Bf109's, the Swiss tried painting huge red and white stripes over the wings and fuselage in an attempt to make their identity more obvious. Unfortunately this then led to a number of incidents with German aircraft that thought the stripes looked like allied invasion stripes. So the scheme was done away with eventually.
My subject has the stripes, as given in the CA kit and the pic below. Classic Airframes did a good job- the only thing i did differently was the spinner, their colour notes say to use white but the pic shows that at least at some time it was darker- i'm guessing the original RLM 70, but maybe it's red. Anyway it doesn't mean CA made a mistake as spinners can be changed easily and often were. It could have been white at some point- i went with the pic.
I'll put some construction pics with notes in a seperate post for anyone interesting in building the CA kits.

Hey, I have a potential build that I would like to know if it would fit the group. It's a Mig-15 UTI that i have polish and north vietnam markings for. would either of those be ok? It's a KP kit and I've never built one before, so I want to see how it goes together.

Hey Eric,
so one of the rules for this build is it should be a WWII produced aircraft or at least based on one., which I guess sort of leaves MiGs out.
I'd still really like to see that build though!

alright, thanks vance. I guess I didn't think to look to see if it was just WW2. I just had a He 112 with rumanian markings, but it's on it's way to afganistan now! I might have to scrounge up something else.

Eric,
The guidelines state that any aircraft built until 1953 are eligible. Off the top of my head I don't know when Mig 15's were built, but if it was before and including 1953......build on!
Also, I AM making progress on my Romanian Hurricane, just v...e....r.....y slowly. The ground school for getting my pilots license really is taking a lot of time. I SHOULD be studying now
Great entries everyone!

Well, I lied about the He 112, looks like I will be building it after all! It's the classic airframes offering, and I'm not sure since it's been so long since I got it, but I'm pretty sure it's a short run kit. comes with some PE and resin, but then I don't know a CA that doesn't.... Anyway, the kit will involve some rescribing because some of the panel lines get lost halfway down the wing! I hope to get a picture or two up tonight and maybe show some progress. I think I'm gonna shoot myself because this will be 3 kits I'm working at the same time.....
We'll see how that goes!

This looks like another opportunity to get another Finnish plane built....
But answer me this, would a Finnish-operated Curtiss Hawk 75 make an acceptable entry?
As they were captured French aircraft bought from the Germans, they're kind of a borderline case. What do you say?

Eetu,
I would say it would be fine since the planes are third hand, but it is kind of "borderline". Really, I don't want to discourage anyone from building what they want as long as it keeps with the spirit of the build. I look forward seeing it progress. Also, I will finally be putting decals on my Hurri today. I've been so swamped lately I have not touched it
