Post your 3 pictures for the February Model of the Month competition Here.

Post your, single, picture for voting purposes here

Rules for the new Model of the Month. Please read before posting

1. Entries must be of your own work.
2. The model must be of an aircraft.
3. The model can be in any scale and in any medium.
4. The model can be “out of the box”, scratch built, or anything in between.
5. The model must be finished within the month for which it is entered. The model could have been started some time before the MOM for which it is entered, it is the month in which it is actually finished that counts. So if it isn't finished this month it may be ready for next month or the month after
6. 1 picture is to be uploaded into the relevant gallery and titled with what the model is of, I.E. VS Spitfire Mk Vc. No composites. This picture must be of just the model, no base. (For a model posed in the "in Flight" configuration" a small stand is allowed which can be used to either support the model or as a counter weight. A beaching dolly can be used for a float plane.
7. A thread will be opened in the general aircraft forum in which you MUST add up to 3 further pictures and you MAY add details about the build. The model can appear on a base or even in a diorama in this thread. Pictures must not be larger than 700 pixels wide, in either the gallery or the information thread. If you wish to post further pictures then open your own thread.
8. Pictures of models can be placed in the gallery from the first of the month until the penultimate day of the month (the next to last day) (see “5” above). (This is to avoid the time zone difference, I'm working on GMT)
9. Voting will take place over the first half of the next month, closing on the 16th. (This will be between 18.00 and 00.01 GMT)
10. A member winning one month cannot win the following month.
11. Dragon are sponsoring this from June 2007.
12. Staff members of the Kitmaker group of sites cannot enter.
13. The rules will be added to when and if it is deemed necessary.
14. Any none complience with these rules may result in disqualification.
15. Ignorance of these rules is not an excuse for not abiding by them.

This is my first MOM. Thanks to Jean-Luc for the suggestion of entering.

This is the G4M2E Betty with MXY7 Ohka. It's the 1/72 Hasegawa kit with an Eduard Betty PE set adapted for use on this build (strangely, Eduard makes masks for this kit, but no dedicated PE). A crew was created by converting figures from some resin IJN figures and Hasegawa figures from their pilot set. The turret gunner was scratch built using only the head from another figure.

The flame is cotton balls stretched and glued down using Weld Bond. Painted with acrylics and then sparyed with Future to lock down some of the wayward fibers. My process is similar to the excellent one described on Armorama, except that I prefer using a thicker glue. The flame is wrapped over a metal tube that also holds the Ohka. This tube was inserted through a hole drilled through the main tube and welded in place. The stand is wood cut to a size that maximizes stability while not being overwhelming. Epoxy holds together all crucial loads and tubes are used rather than rods so the epoxy can flow inside the tube to strengthen the bond.

Paint is Tamiya and Gunze, sprayed on in various levels of thinning on the Betty to better simulate a rough weathered paint job with different patches of finish. The Ohka is smooth because it is a fairly new plane going on a one-way trip. Washes are oils and powders are by Tamiya and Bragdon Enterprises. Radio line is .003" tippet line.

More pictures can be seen on my website here (scroll to the bottom)...

I'm in. AMT's 1/72 Ju-88 straight out of the box. Used it as a test bed for doing a white wash paint scheme, but that's a whole different story. Decals are a mixed bag from the spares box. Thanks. "Q"

This is Hasegawa's 1/48 Spitfire Mk. IXb. I replaced the fuselage with one by Aeroclub as the original is too short. Painted using Colourcoats enamels and the decals are from the spares box. The figure is from ICM.

Here is Special Hobby's 1/48 fairey Albacore. From the box it includes resin and photo etched details and markings for 3 aircraft. This aircraft served in malta. I would equate the fit/quality of this kit to an MPM, Hi-PM or Hi-Tech kit.

My first ever built Bi-plane aircraft. Fokker D.VII by eduard, strictly OOB, painted with Gunze acrilycs and Mr. Color paints. Great kit, and excellent intro to rigging. Hope you like it!

Here is my entry for February Mom. This is Revell Fw-190A8 in 1/72 scale. It painted gunze acrylics.

Wow - some fabulous pictures already posted. Here's my 1/48 Gloster Gladaitor from Lindberg, finished in the markings of one of the Defenders of Malta.

Well, since I actually finished an aircraft model this month (a rare occurrence these days), I am throwing my hat into the ring.

I completed this P-40K for the Rumble in East campaign. It represents a plane flown in China in the summer of 1944 by 1st Lt. C.J. White, 26th fighter squadron, 51st FG.

Hasegawa 1/48 scale kit with Sky Models decals:

Mostly out of the box, but not entirely. Changes include PE seatbelts, PE ring for ring and bead sight, brake lines from fine solder, replacement gun sight glass, and aerial antenna rigging. Also thinned the gear doors and improved the wheels a bit.

I hope "until the penultimate day" means I can still post today (remember - it is a leap year!).
