It aways pays to check your reference are correct if possible.
When I got the Hobby Boss A-7A Corsair, the markings for VA-147 look wrong.
But looking in the Sqn & Signal "A-7 Corsair In Action" (#120) there in the colour profile was the same aircraft (down to the misshaped sword} I now know where Hobby Boss got thier info from.
I looked at other books ( including Osprey
Combat Aircraft No 048 - US Navy A7 Corsair II Units Of The Vietnam War)
and photos show the marking are different
In the Sqn & Signal A-7 Corsair II Walkaround on page 11 there is two photos of the fa maked as A-7E on the assembly line.
You can see in the top photo taken on the right side, cover over the refuling prod (A-7H did not have an air to air refueling prode), also H1 B.No 159662 written on the aircraft
the lower photo was taken on the left side of another aircrat it showed H2 B.No. 159663 written on the aircraft
If I did not have to worry about copyright I would post the photos

Agreed always check your references. Know who wrote them. Follow the authors you trust.
