Wow! Aeroscale member Mark Büchler has written a book! And what a book. 63 pages detail answers to the mysteries of mold making and resin casting. Most of you wil remember Mark's top notch build of the Goshawk kit over on the "Preflight Check" title. It went from kit build to review and now the big jump to an illustrated book! I plan on a more complete review to be added by this weekend.

I'm with Hugh - I always have wanted to try my hand at resin casting.

Looks interesting. I've been making molds and casting for a while now, but always on the look out for more tips/tricks. Do you have the ISBN on the back?

Hey Brad,
I invested in a "Pinkisil" Kit at Expo last year. have't had an opportunity to have a play with it as yet, but it ooks to me as if it will be a great introduction to the dark art of Resin Casting.
I intend to do some engine parts when I get a chance. I will post progress if I ever do.
Cheers,
Hugh

Greetings all;
Having had a chance to read through this little gem I can answer some of your questions.
The book is available through http://www.Lulu.com. As the author says this book was made for the "average modeler" (someone near and dear to my heart). He explains the reason we all seek to modifiy over-simplified or innaccurate kits.
Along with resin the author discusses vacuforming. Though the featured subject of this book is an early aviation subject I may have to move this to the general aviation section. There is a lot of good information here.
Chapter 1 - Why make your own parts.
Chapter 2 - Beginning the Project.
Chapter 3 - How molds work.
Chapter 4 - Making Patterns.
Chapter 5 - How Molds are Made. This chapter lists the tools needed to be successful.
Chapter 6 - Working with Resin.
Chapter 7 - Making Split Molds.
Chapter 8 - Making More Complex Molds.
Chapter 9 - A Word on Vacuforming.
